Clash of the Master

by Chauncey Pickins

A fine dewy morning ‘twas
Zeus’ rage not fully realized
Drops that wipe with slight of hand

Lights that blink dictate my will
But a blinding ignorance suffocated my judgement
For the ferryman of the grand tar betrays my trust
Beast flung with lightning quakes the path

Behold! They draw their Beasts forth
I halt, looking to flee
The rubber hooves to grasp such space
A fool fails to yield my Motion
My Beast is struck, and
all thanks to God no harm is unto me

Beasts that strike sneer and jest
Call out hazard
May masters clash

My apprentice: so young, naíve
Fell to álike blunder
Gazed on edifice
Into greens his beast did fall
Roaring loud, i swore
The very Soul it bore
Hoping to escape as I
Left as cloud of ash

Such strife y’caused to me
Perhaps by my own tide
My guilt be greater if y’died
For those who learnéd
By the Staff
Follow true to master

Great distress it brought him
His own rain aflowed as if
to wash the trauma
I wished to comfort
But as i was as where we were;
forced to stand the law doth stir

My mother and my father wish me not to cry
My son, my son, in you we do rely
We wish you soul and heart so true
Rocked to sleep as babe in lullaby

My mind now rests for all is fine
for God is great; his grace we dine
I give Him thanks that I
and Pupil
